Sony has been taken the console market with its innovative first-party titles and the same can’t be said for Xbox because there have been not many first-party titles for Xbox One, however, all of this is about to change as Microsoft is shifting its focus towards investing in new first-party studios following the release of Xbox One X.
Phil Spencer noted that first-party video games for Xbox One should be the strength of the company. He admitted that Microsoft hasn’t invested in first-party titles as much as it should have and has seen some ups and downs.
We need to grow, and I look forward to doing that. Our ability to go create content has to be one of our strengths. We haven’t always invested at the same level. We’ve gone through ups and downs in the investment.
Microsoft has faced a lot of criticism over the lack of exclusives for Xbox One and even canceling Scalebound which was in development at Platinum Games. However, since E3 2017, Microsoft has changed its direction a bit and has been promising that more games are in development.
Recently, Microsoft Exec Shannon Loftis hinted that more Xbox exclusives are in the works about which the company isn’t even talking about.
Phil Spencer has also noted Microsoft has signed deals for first-party titles about which Microsoft won’t be talking about for about for quite some time.

It seems that Microsoft has seen the errors of its ways and is looking to make amends to get back in the good graces of the gaming community.
