Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus was a surprise announcement by Bethesda at its E3 2017 press conference and fans are happy that a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order will arrive later this year. With the upcoming game, BJ Blazkowicz will go to the Nazi-occupied United States and devs don’t intend to stop there.
According to creative director Jens Matthies, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will not be the last entry in the rebooted franchise and also hinted that Mecha-Hitler might return in the next game. Speaking with Giant Bomb, Matthies revealed that the studio has planned the series as three part saying that “We always envisioned this as a trilogy”. he further added that “if we get to make the third one–once we introduce Mecha-Hitler, you can’t go up from there.”
With the reveal of the game, Bethesda showcased snippets of a number of cutscenes for the game and the devs have revealed that there is more where it came from. According to the studio, the game has around 3 hours of cutscenes and features 100 actors.
We’re extremely happy with how it all comes together, both in terms of the physical locations, the play spaces, but also in terms of the story. The story is super, super ambitious, and we’re so proud of how everything’s coming together. We have such a huge cast [and so many] cinematics – so in terms of the storytelling it’s a very, very big undertaking. It’s something we couldn’t even attempt last time around because we didn’t have the experience.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is a first-person action shooter in development at Machine Games and is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
