The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Insanity Mode Considering Permadeath

CD Projekt Red is currently developing an “insanity” difficulty mode for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

While streaming on Twitch, the developer confirmed the existence of the mode but didn’t offer more information on it. The mode is probably in early development and we’ll have to wait until it’s finished in order to receive more details.

One thing that the developer is currently considering is adding a “permadeath” option that will have players starting from scratch again. However, CD Projekt Red was quick to point out that the mode still has to be fun and such an option in its raw form may prove more frustrating.

Both previous Witcher titles featured an ‘insane’ difficulty option that brought up stronger enemies and death penalties. The third installment may raise that bar even more.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is shaping up to be a terrific addition to the open-world monster hunting series. This will be the final installment in the trilogy, after which the studio will be moving on to Cyberpunk 2077.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently slated for a release in May for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was previously pegged for an earlier release but was delayed. While the game is done, more time is needed in squashing out bugs and glitches, which are in abundance seeing the sheer scale of the game.
