Nintendo Wii U is Officially Nintendo’s Worst Selling Console

Nintendo is gunning toward releasing a new platform in March but not before discussing Wii U, probably for one last time. Nintendo Wii U turned out to be a disaster across the globe. It didn’t even manage to do well in Japan, a stronghold of Nintendo hardware.

During its entire lifetime, Nintendo Wii U managed to sell on 13.56 million units across the globe. Meanwhile, selling 96 million software units. Compared to PS4’s 400 million, the number is embarrassing.

Wii U production has halted so this marks the end of Wii U. Nintendo is now putting all of its eggs into Switch which is coming out in March.

If the company fails to once again grab a decent chunk of the market share, Nintendo may need to pull out of the hardware market. The good news is that Nintendo Switch will have a decent amount of publisher support for at least a couple years and during this time Nintendo needs to make sure the machine sells well.
