Ubisoft Avoiding A Female Controversy With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Keeping Kassandra Out Of Focus

Kassandra From Assassin’s Creed Odyssey may be showcased in the game trailers but Ubisoft is maintaining caution to avoide any female controversies.

One of the key features in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the ability to be able to choose the gender of the character you would be playing as. You can either go for Alexios, or the female character Kassandra.

However, it appears as if Ubisoft just might be a little unsure about endorsing the female character too much and that could be why they have kept Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey a little out of focus.

As you may be aware, Kassandra is a major character included in the game’s novel as well so it seems to be the reason Ubisoft has included her in Odyssey. Although what is interesting is the fact that in all the screenshots featured on the Odyssey Steam page only Alexios is prominent.

However, there are a few places she has popped up but a significant appearance has been made by Alexios rather than Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

We have seen Kassandra in a few gameplay trailers but that is just about it. When it comes to marketing you would find that Ubisoft has focused on Alexios. Ubisoft was asked why is she absent from game’s marketing to which it said:

As metadata had to be sent some time before the official reveal, some retail pages will not showcase the full selection of assets. Store pages will, however, be updated throughout the course of the campaign to include new assets that reflect both our leading characters, as featured at the announce of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey across all our asset packs.

Conceivably it could be the case but looking at how some of the major games seem to be surrounded by such controversies, it seems to be Ubisoft is maintaining caution.

With all that said, it is not the first time Ubisoft has had a female lead in Assassin’s Creed series. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is scheduled to roll out sometime in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
