Evolve was a game that looked great in trailers and demos, however, once the game released it fell off the grid pretty quickly. However, in recent months the game has lived up to its name, as developer Turtle Neck Studios announced the game going free-to-play. Since then the player base for the game has increased, and new modes have been introduced to the game.
According to the developers it is a co-op operation for Evolve, which will be a linear four player co-op experience within the universe of Evolve. However, the developer has noted that this new co-op mode for Evolve is “Experimental” which could be “the seed from which more co-op vs. AI ops (or maybe even a campaign of ops) could grow from”.
The first co-op mission for Evolve is “The Deepest Dark”, which the developer describes as:
At the start of the operation, the Hunters are greeted by an ominous voice setting the scene and alluding to the events that have led to the Queen of Gorgons taking over a Wraith containment facility and the surrounding area.
As the team makes their way to the Queen’s lair, they’ll face hordes of infected wildlife and Gorgon minions that spawn from the Queen’s eggs. Can the Hunters survive and take down the Queen of Gorgons to uncover why she’s on Shear?
In other news, before the Evolve went free-to-play, the game saw quite a drop in its player count, mostly due to the fact that there was nothing much to do in the game. However, ever since the game went free-to-play, the player base has increased drastically.
Evolve is an first person free-to-play multiplayer shooter developed by Turtle Neck Studio and published by 2K for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
