There Could be a F2P Battle Royale Game From EA, Not Battlefield V Though

EA has revealed their plans for a free to play battle royale game in the future which could bring a game like Battlefield V but free just like Fortnite.

The battle royale genre has been everywhere after the big game hits like Fortnite and PUBG who have even influenced AAA games like Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V. Electronic Arts is planning to take on Fornite with a free to play battle royale game of their own.

During an investor call recently, Blake Jorgensen of Electronic Arts was asked about if Battlefield V’s battle royale mode could be distributed separately as a standalone free to play game or not. He replied by saying no but he also mentioned that EA can and could make its own free to play battle royale game sometime in the future.

Blake Jorgensen said:

“We’re interested in experimenting with a free-to-play standalone game that might be in a shooter genre or another genre,” he said when asked specifically about the possibility of EA making a standalone free-to-play battle royale game like Fortnite. “But I don’t think that’s how we’re looking at the Battlefield stuff right now.”

Jorgensen also teased that we will know more about what he’s talking about in the upcoming months and years.

It looks like EA wants a piece of success from the world of battle royale games too now and it makes perfect sense after the success of PUBG, Fortnite, and other big games.

With Battlefield V battle royale mode, EA is definitely stepping into the world of battle royale games but it will be more exciting and fun to see a completely new game by the studio which is also free just like Fortnite.

We have yet to see how Battlefield V battle royale mode really works because there’s no gameplay footage yet but if it turns out to be successful after launch then we may not be very far away from seeing a separate stand-alone free to play battle royale game from EA.

Battlefield V is now available for pre-order and it will launch on October 19 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
