Analyst: Rockstar May Never Be Able to Repeat the Success of GTA V

Analyst thinks that Rockstar might never ever have a massive hit like GTA V again which recently became the most profitable entertainment product ever.

GTA 5 is everyone’s favorite, the game since its launch has been a massive success and we recently discussed how it became the most profitable product ever. Can Rockstar recreate the success of GTA V with its future games? Well, according to one analyst, GTA V is the biggest hit RockStar will ever see.

The Rockstar studio is run by Take-Two, a public company who aims to reach bigger hits everytime they approach something new. Perhaps  Red Dead Redemption 2 could be bigger than the GTA V but that depends on its online functionality. GTA Online played a key role in the success of GTA V. It gave players more than enough reasons to come back to Los Santos over and over again.

But recently, Cowen and Company analyst Doug Creutz talked to Market Watch and he doesn’t think that Red Dead Redemption will be bigger than GTA V. He said

“That’s not to say Rockstar won’t have other big hits—it may—but another ‘GTA V’ isn’t likely,” said Creutz. “Michael Jackson had a lot of hit albums but he only had one ‘Thriller.’”

Since its launch in 2013 ”GTA V” has sold more than 90 million copies across all platforms with lifetime earnings estimated at US $6 Billion which is more and far above than any successful blockbuster movies like the Star Wars.

Creutz said that GTA V is a ”wild outliner” in the world of gaming when it comes to sales. Big gaming companies don’t usually reveal the number of units sold but without a doubt, GTA V has been the most successful title in history.

Unlike new games, GTA V was originally released at the tail end of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3’s life cycle and later released PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

If no other game sells like GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA IV will at least stay the closest to it in terms of sales and revenue.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is releasing soon and aims to be bigger than ever, we have everything you need to know about the game here.
