Respawn Reveals the Philosophy Behind Apex Legends Battle Pass Season 1

Respawn Entertainment has now responded to all of the criticism by explaining the philosophy of Apex Legends Season 1's Battle Pass.

Respawn Entertainment has now explained their philosophy for Apex Legends Season 1’s Battle Pass. This explanation comes as a response to all of the criticism due to the lack of rewards within the pass.

Apex Legends Battle Pass Season 1 is now available with a new Legend called Octane but the players are not very happy as seen on Reddit. Players are complaining about the number badge that comes after every five levels. Some have made it clear that they wanted weapon skins, character skins, and banners instead of new intros, stats, and XP rewards. Basically, the players want more tempting rewards compared to what the game is currently offering. This all led to the game’s comparison with Fortnite.

This encouraged the developer of Apex Legends Respawn to explain the philosophy of Season 1 Battle Pass which is “about keeping it focused and allowing players to earn a lot of rewards at a great value (you even get the cost of the base Battle Pass back if you reach level 97). We’ll begin adding more and more innovations each season, as we evolve the Battle Pass.”

Lead Product Manager Lee Horn confirmed that this Battle Pass aims at beginners, allowing them to learn and experiment with the game which is why the quests are not very complex. They have intentionally kept everything simple but this will change in the future as there’s plenty to explore. Also, these Wild Frontier Battle Pass rewards (excluding Apex packs) are exclusive to Season 1

As for Battle Pass progress, that is tied to a variety of characters and is because the “true mastery in Apex Legends means being a badass with anyone in any situation at any time.”

In terms of rewards, Lee Horn said:

In terms of rewards, we’ve tried to create a Battle Pass where first-time spenders can get a strong base of weapon and character cosmetics to fill out their initial collection at a deep discount. In addition, we’ve included our first ever three-stage evolving Legendary Havoc weapon skin (for veterans who are looking for the new hotness), as well as Epic and Legendary Apex Packs. These rewards are all in addition the 1,000 Apex Coins you can earn through the Battle Pass, which you can put towards unlocking the next Battle Pass.

In short, the game’s future is looking bright as the hype continues. EA and the developers are trying to deliver something different as compared to Fortnite or PUBG. With above things clear, we have our eyes set on the next Season of Battle Pass which will most likely deliver what the fans want.

Apex Legends 1.05 update marks the beginning of the game’s first season on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
