Further Digging Reveals Red Dead Redemption 2 VR Support on PC

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched for consoles with critical acclaim. However, PC gamers are on the fence to know if the game will ever come to PC. While the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app hints at a PC version but, the app also hints that the game comes with VR support.

Enthusiasts are digging through the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app. Interestingly the app hints at the support for Oculus Rift which suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch with VR support.

Rockstar Games is no stranger to VR support for its games. The studio brought VR support to L.A Noire: Case Files and seems like they are putting that experience to good use. The following are the lines of code referencing to PC version and the VR support.

The last line of code specifically mentions Oculus. This not only confirms the RDR 2 PC version but also VR support for the game. Furthermore, there is a chance the game might also support PSVR in the future.

Given that Red Dead Redemption 2 can be played in first-person, it makes sense for the studio to introduce VR support to it. Furthermore, given how the detailed the game is, PC players probably require a powerful PC to play it in VR.

This is not the first hint towards the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Previously, a Rockstar dev himself confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in development for PC.

The dev has worked on GTA V, L.A Noire, and Red Dead Redemption 2 as a programmer. The dev listed Red Dead Redemption 2 PC on his profile.

Furthermore, Rockstar parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has acknowledged the importance of PC. But, both Rockstar and Take-Two have refrained for saying anything related to PC version of RDR2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world action game developed by Rockstar Games. The game is available for PS4 and Xbox One.
