Pokemon Go evolution is probably one of the most efficient methods for leveling up fast and make your Pokemon more potent. Since there is no in-game explanation as to how to carry out Pokemon Go evolution, we have explained this simple yet highly useful technique.
As you progress through the game, you will find out that relying on your starting Pokemon for longer duration of time is not a good approach. You will eventually be forced to Power Up your Pokemon or evolve them to be more successful in battles and to retain your position as a Gym Leader.

Pokemon Go Evolution Guide
Our Pokemon Go Evolution Guide details everything you need to know about how to undergo evolution, how to farm items required for evolution, and more.
Pokemon Go Evolution – Understanding Pokemon Stats
The first thing that you need to know is that there is no individual Pokemon level in the game. The efficiency of a Pokemon in battle is determined by two things – Combat Points or CP and Hit Points or HP.
HP basically refers to total amount of damage that a Pokemon can sustain before fainting. CP, on the other hand, is total amount of damage that a Pokemon can dish out. As a general rule of thumb, you need to these values to be as high as possible! However, do note that these are the only things that you need to bear in mind.
Pokemon-Type is another important concept when it comes to combat effectiveness. Pokemon are generally categorized based on their type i.e. electric, grass, water, fire, and more. You will find numerous guide across the internet explaining how all of these work. To give you a general overview, fire burns grass, water removes fire, and so on and so forth!
Differences Between Pokemon Go Evolution and Powering Up
Before a gym battle, if you check your Pokedex, you will see two options under a Pokemon – Power Up and Evolve. The difference between powering up and evolving a Pokemon is that evolution changes a Pokemon entirely and may change its species while powering up increases its base stats such as CP.
Another difference between the two is that powering up a Pokemon requires a special item called Stardust. Evolution, on the other hand, also requires an item called Candy. While both these items do not mean much at the start of the game, you will soon realize that these are probably the most important items in the game and must be stocked up.
Once you have sufficient amount of Candy, you simply need to select evolve which will not only provide you with a little XP, but will evolve your Pokemon into a more powerful one. If your Pokemon changes into a species which you have not discovered already, you will gain bonus XP for discovering a new species.
Last thing that you need to note is that Stardust is universal and can be used to power up any Pokemon in the game. Candy, on the other hand, is highly specific and a Pokemon requires its specific Candy in order to undergo evolution.
Pokemon Go – How to Get Stardust and Candy
Since we are primarily talking about Pokemon Go evolution, let us talk about gathering Candy first. There are a couple of ways using which you can earn Candy in the game. Whenever you catch a Pokemon, you get a total of x3 Candies corresponding with that Pokemon. Similar is the case with hatching eggs.
In addition to this, you can also trade in duplicate Pokemon with Professor Willow in order to get Candy in return. However, when you think about trading in a duplicate Pokemon, make sure to trade in the one that has low CP and never trade in the high CP and high HP ones.
Pokemon Go Stardust, on the other hand, is also acquired by capturing Pokemon. Every time you capture a Pokemon, you receive x100 Stardust. In addition to this, if you store Pokemon inside a gym after hitting Trainer Level 5, you will gain a constant stream of Stardust and other goodies.
Pokemon Go – How to Farm Candy and Stardust
If you are looking to get your hands on Stardust and Candies, you need to lure Pokemon to a single location and capture as many of them as possible! In order to achieve this, you need to have in-game items known as Incense and Lure Modules.
The difference between Incense and Lure Modules is that Lure Modules can be used in a place and have other trainers benefit from it. Incense, on the other hand, follows you around and is highly exclusive. Both, however, will lure Pokemon to your location, allowing you to capture them and farm evolution items.
One important thing that you need to note here is that both these items last for 30 minutes so you need to make most of this time. If you are looking forward to leveling up fast in the game, you can also toss in another item called Lucky Eggs which will provide you with increased XP gain for a total of 30 minutes.
With these buffs active, you will be able to gain increased XP, Candies, and Stardust with every successful Pokemon capture.
