If you missed out on the classic PS2 title, Primal, you are getting second chance to try out this amazing demon-slayer. ESRB has just rated the game for PlayStation 4, meaning it is possibly coming to the console via PS2 emulation.

That’s not all, there are plenty of other games rated for PS4 as well.

  • Ape Escape 3
  • Okage: Shadow King
  • Siren
  • Wild Arms 3

While we are excited about playing these classic games, but sadly many of us may not choose to benefit from PS2 emulation. That is because its benefits are a bit too expensive, Sony is charging more than it should for these classic titles.

Sony does have an explanation though.

We are also able to add Trophies; some people really care about Trophies. So we can provide that. And it takes some time for our staff and QA and licensing and everything to bring back these games. So it takes us time and cost. So we felt that we should charge.

This explains why they are charging for the games but doesn’t explain why they are charging so much. It is a similar problem to PS Now where Sony charged a lot of money for renting old games.

PS2 emulation was Sony’s answer to Xbox One backwards compatibility, however, Sony has to come up with a better pricing model.
