Nintendo Switch Success Shows Gaming Is About More Than Graphics? Hell No!

Nintendo Switch has been incredibly successful and has sold over 10 million units in a year and having that said, people are claiming that Nintendo Switch success shows that gaming is not all about the graphics and I do not agree with that. While the Nintendo Switch may not be able to deliver the performance that we are used to from consoles and PC, I doubt that a correlation with the success of the console.

Disclaimer: The opinion discussed here is my own.

We have seen plenty of indie games that do not have much to offer when it comes to graphics and they have seen plenty of success without the Nintendo Switch. There are games out there that are not graphically demanding but have sold millions of copies. We did not need the Nintendo Switch to come out and remind us that these games are there and need to be enjoyed.

While PC gamers are often seen as graphics whores and I admit that I go enjoy good graphics, that is not everything. PC gamers enjoy a good story and game mechanics as well. There are games out there that have great graphics but there are other factors that totally put me off and I think there are other people that feel the same way as well.

Final Fantasy XV is coming out for PC tomorrow and I have played the demo, if it was all about the graphics, I would have loved the game but that was not the case. The shitty UI and poor choice of music put me off big time. This is a perfect example of how graphics are not everything even when you have the power available to drive those graphics.

While there are plenty of underrated games that people have not played you can check out our pick of most underrated games of this generation here. The following are some of the highest grossing indie games that came out before the Nintendo Switch was ever announced.
