The next Xbox One update is scheduled to go live next week and Microsoft’s Major Nelson has today revealed what we can expect the update to include.
The update focuses on improving the console’s social features, and on the side picking up various features, all of which have been taken from the recently launched Xbox Feedback section.
Here’s what’s going live next week for those with an early access to the Xbox One system update.
Activity feed updates:
The interface of the activity feed is getting overhauled into a single column scrolling list that will show more content than before. The update will also enable users to post text to their feeds and to “like” and comment on feed items. Similar to Facebook and other social media networks, users will be notified when anyone interacts with their feed, like commenting, sharing or liking items.
Expanded Friends area on Home:
The friends area is also being changed to include a better way to showcase your friends’ current activity. This is being brought in as an early access preview this month and will be tweaked based on feedback until a proper release.
Users can now take advantage of Xbox SmartGlass or Xbox.com to remotely purchase games and add-on content. Additionally if your console is set to automatically take updates, your console will begin downloading your purchase instantly.
Low battery notification:
Another popular request, users will now get a notification when their controller’s battery is getting low.
Disable notifications during video:
Users can now turn off notifications while watching a video.
Enabling 3D Blu-ray:
An update to the Blu-ray player app will enable 3D Blu-ray functionality on Xbox One.
OneGuide in Brazil, Mexico, Austria and Ireland:
Live TV listings can be configured for four new countries as part of this month’s Preview program. And now there is an OneGuide Issue Reporter available under the TV & OneGuide settings, Troubleshooting section.
Last seen time in Friends list:
The friends list will now show how long it’s been since a friend has been online.
