New Xbox One Update is on Preview; Buy Xbox 360 BC Games

Finally, a new Xbox One update has went into preview that brings the ability to purchase Xbox 360 games from Xbox One; black and green screens fixed too.

We have been waiting for this since a while now, and finally Microsoft is rolling out the ability to purchase Xbox 360 backwards compatible games right from the Store through a new Xbox One update. The update is question has already been sent out for the preview program!

It looks like we will soon be able to skip the added steps of getting an Xbox 360 backwards compatible game on our Xbox One after all. The update, titled th2_xb_rel_1603.160304-1900 went up for the preview program members at exactly 6:00PM PST on March 6 which equates to 1:00AM GMT on March 7.

There are two major highlights of the new Xbox One update, one of which you already know, the other is the removal of Achievements app from the build. Talking of fixes, Microsoft claims to have ridden the console of black screens and green screens – some issues that we have heard complaints of on various occasions. Here’s a rundown on the changes:

  • Green Screen issues when watching Video: Fixed an issue which green screens could appear in some video applications.
  • Intermittent flickering Black screens: Fixed an issue in which black screens would appear, in games, apps or when navigating the dashboard.

New Features in this Build:

  • Purchase Xbox 360 Backward compatible games: Games today will be discover-able via Game hubs and Activity feed and over the next 24 hours the Store programming will be live for a full end to end purchasing experience.
  • The Achievements snap app is no longer in the build – please use the guide experience to view your achievement’s progress

The feature allowing you to purchase Xbox 360 games right from the Xbox One was supposed to go live a couple of days ago, but the Xbox One update was delayed because a bug was found in the feature. It looks like we are good to go now.
