New NieR Title Confirmed By The Series Producer, Yoko Taro Involved With Its Development

We had some serious suspicions about it but now it's confirmed. A new NieR title is in development, according to NieR series producer, Yosuke Saito.

We had some serious suspicions about it but now it’s confirmed. A new NieR title is in development, according to NieR series producer, Yosuke Saito. In a recent interview of Saito with Dengeki PlayStation, he confirmed that a new project is in works for the NieR series, as it was expected given Square Enix’s job opening searching for scenario staff for a NieR-related project.

Recently, we saw Bussiness Division 6 of Square Enix having a few job openings for a NieR project with messages by NieR series director Yoko Taro and NieR series producer Yosuke Saito where the producer wrote a heartfelt message about the recruitment of new people on this new NieR project, so it was only natural for him to make the announcement.

Saito was also asked whether or not Yoko Taro will be involved in the development of this new NieR title and he responded by saying the following:

“He is… I would like to believe (laughs). Yoko says he will do anything as long as he receives money for it, but there is no one who doesn’t move for money as much as that man. He only wants to do what he wants to do. So I’ll try my best to explicitly say what he doesn’t want to do to guide him towards what I want to do (laughs).”

During the Q&A session at SEA Summit held in Singapore, Yoko Taro was asked if he would be interested in developing another NieR title to which is responded that he is interested in NieR Automata sequel and the sequel will be so different from the game that he will ruin it.

Given that Yoko Taro will be a part of the development team but he is not interested in creating a sequel for NieR, we might be looking at another title like NieR Automata or maybe a sequel to it if Taro and Saito get the team back together.
