Need for Speed Car Performance Tips and Tuning

After new parts installation, you’ll be able to fine-tune each and every component of your ride. You can leave everything as default and let the game choose the optimal settings.

This guide details tuning and car performance customization to help you adjust the driving experience the way you require.

Car Tuning

Tire Pressure
You can adjust the front and rear tire pressure separately. For drifting, you need more pressure in the front tires and for strong grip; you need more pressure in the rear tires.

Steer Response
You can either set the steer response fast or slow. A fast steer response will render your ride more reactive while a slow steer response will render it sturdier.

Steer Range
You can choose between a narrow steer range and a wide steer range. A wide steer range will render your ride more reactive and will let you maintain longer drifts while a narrow range will let you have more control of your ride.

Braking Drift Assist
You can toggle this option on or off — with the on option increasing the chances of a braking drift and vice versa.

Drift Stability Assist
Aspiring drift kings who wish to have more control of their rides while drifting should disable the option and undergo a true test of their drifting skills.

Launch Control
You can toggle the option on or off depending on the race type. The option essentially reduces the wheel spin and should be turned off only for drift races.

Differential
You can either open up your ride’s differential or lock it down. A locked differential will let you pull off longer drifts by increasing wheel spin. The option, however, shouldn’t be locked for plain races.

Downforce
The option is tied to the spoiler on your ride. The more the downforce, the more stable your ride will be at high speeds. In case you prefer drifting over stability, decrease its value.

Brake Strength
You can increase the brake strength to encourage drifting and stop wheels as soon as you hit the pedal or decrease it to acquire more stability and avoid sudden drifts.

Brake Bias
Brake Bias is directly linked to the weight transfer of your ride. You can push it towards the forward of your ride to encourage drifting or push it towards rear to acquire more stability.

Tire Traction
The option essentially varies from one tire type to another. You can change it from neutral or less traction on drift tires and neutral to increased stability on grip tires.

Handbrake Strength
You can go with a strong handbrake in order to trigger a drift easily and increase wheel spin. A weak handbrake, on the other hand, will increase your ride’s stability.

Spring Stiffness
You can alter the option as either stiff or soft — with the former one being suitable for increased stability and former one for drift.

Sway Bars
The option is tied to the amount of body roll your ride will produce. You can change it to stiff for increased wheel spin and drifts or to soft for better stability and handling.

Nitrous
You can adjust the nitrous on your ride to be more powerful or last for a longer duration. You should probably adjust it according to the races you wish to participate in.
