Signature Skills are the latest additions to the NBA series. NBA 2K13 Signature skills reflect different players’ unique game-style. Some of the players like to dunk while others like to make 3-pointers, each of these players have special skills that allow them to do as such.
NBA 2K13 Signature Skills
These Signature Skills are thus placed in NBA 2K13 to put forth the best possible simulation experience. Here is the list of all the Signature Skills and how they work:
Offensive
Posterizer
It is a skill associated with a player who likes to dunk all over the defenders when surrounded in a crowd. This skill is only activated when the attacker has a defender in his vicinity. It requires a stamina of 80 and when successfully done gives a temporary energy boost to teammates.
Finisher
Players with this skill have more chances of finishing a dunk or completing lay-ups. So these players are more likely to come on top during one on one encounters.
Acrobat
This skill allows a player to change their shot to a pass mid air with more of a chance of actually completing that pass. It decreases shot penalty by a staggering 40%.
Spot Up Shooter
This skill allows a player to make shots more easily while they are standing still. It decreases the shot penalty by 30%. Keep in mind you have to be standing still to activate this skill while taking a shot at the hoop.
Shot Creator
Players with this skill can make a difficult shot more easily than other players but only if he first creates the space to take the shot himself, i.e. no one passes the ball to him to take the shot. To activate this skill the player must break down his defender first and then in the 2 seconds after breaking down the defender take the shot.
Deadeye
Players with this skill are not disturbed when defenders rush at them while they are taking a shot. For this skill to be of any use you must start to wind up for a shot before a defender engages you. It completely decreases your shot penalty by a 100%.
Corner Specialist
Players who have this skill can make shots from where the baseline meets the side line with relative ease. This skill requires the player to be standing still at the corner and take the shot in the 2 seconds after getting the pass.
Post Proficiency
Players with this skill are very hard to stop in the low post. It requires that the shot must be taken from with in 17 feet of the basket.
Ankle Breakers: Players with this skill in their arsenal can break ankles when performing successful isolation dribble moves. This skill increases the chances of a defender stumbling and fumbling by 30%.
Post Playmaker
Players with this skill have decent court vision and can make passes from out of the post to make good plays. This skill requires that the pass must come from post -up position to a free teammate. The receiver will get a an added 10% chance of making the basket and an added 4% chance of making a 3-pointer.
Dimer
Players with this skill are superb passers of the basket ball. The receiver will get a an added 10% chance of making the basket and an added 4% chance of making a 3-pointer. It requires that the pass must be made from anywhere other than the post.
Break Starter
This skill allows the player to start counter attacks with great outlet passing. This skill requires that the player must be a defensive rebounder and the pass be made in before 2 seconds are up after a rebound. This skill decreases the chance of making a bad long range pass by 50% if requirements are met.
Alley-Ooper
Players with this skill can throw very accurate alley oop passes.
Brick Wall
This skill can make a player set up a powerful, unmovable screen.
Hustle Points
Players with this skill have the tendency to score after offensive rebounds. The skill requires that the shot must be taken after 3 seconds of an offensive rebound. This skill adds to the Shot Inside, Shot Close and Layup attributes.
Floor General
This skill allows the players to help his teammates just by his mere presence on the court. When a player with this skill has the ball, his teammates get an automatic 6 points boost to all their offensive skills.
Defense Signature Skills
Lockdown Defender
Players with this skill are a nightmare for offensive as they have the ability to shut down all the signature skills of the attacker while they are guarding him.
Charge Card
Players with this skill can force attackers to charge at them.
Interceptor
Players with this skill will have a heightened ability of intercepting the opposition’s passing. This skill requires that the player must in 9 feet of the attacker. Furthermore, the player will get a bonus to steal and the vertical attributes.
Pick Pockets
Players with this skill find it easier to steal from attackers while they attempt to dribble. This skill decreases the chance of committing a fouls as you try to steal.
Active Hands
This skill allows the players to easily block the passes layups and the shots of the opposition. A player with this skill in his arsenal is twice as likely to strip the ball from a player who doesn’t have this skill.
Eraser
This skill can make the player the ultimate defending beast on the court. When rejected by a player with this skill the attacker gets a drop of up to six points in his shooting attributes.
Chase Down Artist
Players with this kill are excellent at chasing down attackers on a break to perform a swat or a skill. To activate this skill you must come from behind the moving attacker. The player with skill is given a boost in Block, Vertical and Quickness attributes when the opposition is on a fast break.
Defensive Anchor
This skill causes the player to turn his teammate into a defensive powerhouse by just his mere presence. With the player with this skill on court, his fellows get a six-point increase in their defensive attributes.
Others
Bruiser
This skill can make a player have a negative effect on the opposition’s players physical strength every time this player comes in contact with them.
Scrapper
Players with this skill will dive for loose balls more vigorously, come out on top in box battles and such. Your speed gets a boost while diving for loose balls.
Anti-Freeze
The players with this skill never go on a cold streak and keep scoring slowly but regularly.
Microwave
Players with this skill get in the groove instantly when switching from attacking to defending and vice-versa.
Heat Retention
For players with this skill, it takes a lot of misses and bad plays in fact twice as many to get them out of their “Hot” streak.
Closer
Players with this skill get a boost to their attributes in the 4th quarter of the game. Attributes are boosted up to 12 points, easier free throws, energy boosts during timeouts, 5% increase of making “moving” shots and step-back shots.
Gatorade
Player with this skill won’t tire in the first quarter of the game.
On Court Coach
Players with this skill command a lot of respect from their teammates. When they call for the ball, teammates drop whatever they are doing, pass the ball to them.
