Mojang Still Keen on Bringing Minecraft to Nintendo Wii U and 3DS

Despite its acquisition by Microsoft, Mojang is still keen to bring Minecraft to Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

According to Mojang, Nintendo Wii U and 3DS versions of Minecraft aren’t completely out of question and there still remains a possibility of the said ports.

Minecraft is already available on a number of platforms and the COO of Mojang, Vu Bui wishes to deliver the game on as many platforms as possible.

In an interview with MCV, Vu Bui stated that despite its acquisition by Microsoft, there remains a hunger inside the company to expand the game to as many platforms as possible and continue to expand its player base:

If I had my way, we’d be on everything.

We want to continue to be available to all players, and that means being on new platforms because everyone uses something different.

…I’ve never heard a reason why we haven’t ended up on Wii U or 3DS. It just hasn’t happened yet.

There is no doubt that the hardware limitations imposed by Nintendo 3DS may call for a lighter version, but there is no reason that the game shouldn’t launch on Nintendo Wii U; especially the GamePad will open up more possibilities. What do you think?

Minecraft is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and mobile devices.
