Microsoft Goes Into Detail on Xbox Play Anywhere Program

Microsoft has posted an article to their official website explaining how the Xbox Play Anywhere program will work now that ReCore has kicked it off.

A few months ago, Microsoft announced the Xbox Play Anywhere program, which would allow gamers to play games on both their Xbox One consoles, and on their PCs. Now, this service has finally launched with the release of ReCore, which came out on Tuesday in North America. ReCore is only the first game that will be coming to the program.

According to a post on the news section of the official Xbox website, the Xbox Play Anywhere Program will allow you to not only play both on the Xbox One and on the PC, but will also save you some money by keeping you from having to buy another copy for one platform or the other. If you have a PC copy you’ll be able to play it on the Xbox, and if you have an Xbox copy you’ll be able to play it on PC, simple as that.

In addition to ReCore, other games that will be coming to the program are games like the upcoming third-person shooter Gears of War 4, and the upcoming racing game Forza Horizon 3. You’ll be able to switch between all of these games from your PC to your Xbox with no loss of progress.

The Play Anywhere program won’t cost you anything extra, either; it’s built in to your Xbox subscription, which also allows you to keep track of your Gamerscore, your Achievements, and everything else as you play. As long as you’re using the same Microsoft username, you can seamlessly transfer your progress and data from one platform to another.

The Xbox Play Anywhere program will be bringing other games to it as it goes along, not just with ReCore, but also with Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, Scalebound, Killer Instinct, and more including Ark: Survival Evolved and who knows what other games?
