Mario Kart Tour is Nintendo’s upcoming mobile game that brings the company’s popular Super Mario racing title to everyone’s Android and iOS devices. After last week’s announcement about the game coming by March 2018, now we get to find out that the game will be free-to-start.

Nintendo has a huge variety of free-to-start games on their consoles, meaning that you’ll be able to try out the game before buying it but that’s actually the term the company gives to demos. For mobile, the term is headed to another path. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is also described as a free-to-start title on the game’s website and that’s party the scheme with Super Mario Run, where Nintendo states that “you can download and enjoy a portion of Super Mario Run for free”.

However, both of these games are pretty much free to play so, our opinion is that that must be the case with Mario Kart Tour too. Most likely, the game will have a free-to-play model with in-app purchases to unlock more content or help you clear some obstacles you may face. Another possibility is that you’ll be able to play a portion of the game for free and then have to pay a price around $10 to unlock the game’s full content.

The company aims to bring its unique characters and games to a wider audience and create synergy with game consoles such as the Switch. Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Super Mario Run are just the start of Nintendo into moving to mobile gaming, even though some of those games aren’t as profitable as they intended.

Mario Kart Tour, with a release coming in sometime before March 2019, the end of the company’s fiscal year. Though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything here just yet, we think it’s safe to assume that Mario Kart Tour will be released on both iOS and Android as other mobile titles have been.
