The Last Of Us 2 Hasn’t Entered Production Yet, Naughty Dog Teases What’s Next

The Last Of Us 2 hasn't entered production yet, but Naughty Dog has teased us a few things about what will be coming after both games are done.

Naughty Dog hasn’t started full production on The Last Of Us 2 yet despite Uncharted: The Lost Legacy going gold for later this month. However, the studio is apparently teasing something that they’ll be making after this game is finished, which will concern both Uncharted and The Last Of Us.

Naughty Dog has previously gone on record saying that there are a lot of different Uncharted spin-offs that they can make with a variety of side characters, such as how Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has Nadine Ross and Chloe Frazier taking the lead roles. While Uncharted 4 was the end of Nathan Drake’s story, there’s no reason it should be the end of Uncharted entirely.

As for The Last Of Us 2, Naughty Dog’s community strategist Arne Meyer has said that while the game isn’t in full production yet, after it starts up there will likely be a lot of staff that have other ideas for the game. However, it will take a while for the studio to decide what’s next for it to work on, in more ways than one.

The Last Of Us does have a good bit of skipped time to go through, considering the game’s prologue takes place twenty years before the actual game. That’s twenty years that could see Joel go on at least one adventure, and a lot of potential for us to see the middle period between the initial outbreak of the Cordyceps fungus, and how the world is when the game starts.

Either way, hopefully Naughty Dog will start full production on The Last Of Us 2 fairly soon; while the game doesn’t have a release date yet, hopefully Naughty Dog will be able to give us one maybe around the next E3. In the meantime, at least Naughty Dog has Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to keep us busy.
