John Smedley Steps Down as CEO of Daybreak, The Lizard Squad Effect?

John Smedley has stepped down from CEO and president position of Daybreak Game Company.

CEO of Daybreak game company has now stepped down from his position at the company. The studio confirmed his departure from Chief Executive Officer position, and said that he will be taking sometime off.

This means that Daybreak is getting a new boss, and current chief operating officer Russell Shanks is chosen for the position.

However, him leaving the position does not mean that he is departing from the company as well. In a statement, Daybreak confirmed that he will return for an undecided role in the company soon enough.

A Daybreak rep said:

I can confirm that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined. Upon finalization of his plans, further communication will be provided.

Him stepping down as CEO and President happened at a very interesting time. We all know about the situation between The Lizard Squad and John Smedley lately.

Smedley openly stated that he is going after Lizard Squad, in retaliation, the group attacked Daybreak servers. The situation was surely going to get worse and the conflict between these two parties would have ended-up hurting Daybreak Game Company.

In the best interest of the company, this decision is indeed correct.

As for Lizard Squad, authorities need to take action and they are indeed doing the best they can. However, the court of law needs to take such matters more seriously.

A Lizard Squad member was recently charged with numerous cyber crimes, but got away with only a two-year suspended sentence.
