E3 this year was the one where many rumoured games finally appeared. The most shocking of all was The Last Guardian. Though many were happy with the likes of that and Fallout 4 there were still a few games that didn’t make an appearance.
The games that didn’t get revealed included not only ones like the almost mythical Half-Life 3, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mafia 3. While the first two games don’t really have much hope of showing at Gamescom 2015, Mafia 3 could actually be a possibility.
The Mafia games are often controversial but are also praised, but are also known for the length of time in development. Mafia 2 for example came eight years after the first game with its 2010 release. This is probably why expectations are starting to grow that something could be announced.
Another reason for the possibility of news is something that Rick Pasqualone, a voice after for the Mafia games said in a Twitter Q&A:
I was hoping for Mafia news as well! Disappointing for sure. When I know something, so will you…
— Rick Pasqualone (@rickyp66) June 17, 2015
Maybe fans are reading too much into the wording of the tweet, but if a voice actor for the game is waiting for new or hiding what they know then something may be in the pipeline.
With Gamescom 2015 being the next big gaming event for 2015, this will be one of the best places for news to be announced about the possibility of the game being in development. I’m sure even if it is just a hint that development has in fact started this would be enough for fans at this point.
Hopefully Mafia 3 would not fall into the same category as Half-Life 3 with fans doubting if it will ever see the light of day.
