Insomniac Games Shows The Comparison Between Spider-Man Versions On PS4 and PS4 Pro

Insomniac Games explained how the Spider-Man game would look between the Playstation 4 and the Playstation 4 Pro versions, citing Ratchet and Clank.

Insomniac Games, who are developing the new Spider-Man game for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro, have described the differences between the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro versions of the game. Insomniac’s example was their Ratchet and Clank game, which they also ported over to the Playstation 4 Pro back in 2016.

We got to see an example of the game’s gameplay at E3, where we saw Peter engage not only in a fight against a variety of thugs (in gameplay that was similar to Batman’s Arkham games) but also in a web-slinging chase against a fleeing helicopter, which also showed off a large number of quick-time events that helped Peter overcome obstacles.

Despite being upscaled for the Playstation 4 Pro, the Spider-Man game will be running on 30 frames per second for both of the Playstation 4 versions. The Playstation 4 version will likely also have higher resolution, but to be specific we need to look back to the Ratchet and Clank game that Insomniac put out on the Playstation 4 in 2016.

For instance, Ratchet and Clank used a new process called “temporal injection”, which allowed the game to look better and also helped with anti-aliasing, smoothing out the edges of various models. However, temporal injection doesn’t allow the game to run at 4K, along with keeping both games locked at 30 frames per second. High Dynamic Ranging will also allow the game to have better lighting.

With Insomniac’s assertion, we can expect the upcoming Spider-Man game to be similar to the Ratchet and Clank game and using a large amount of the same techniques to be upscaled for the Playstation 4 Pro.

The new Spider-Man video game is going to be releasing in 2018 for the Playstation 4 and the Playstation 4 Pro, so if you want to see how it compares to the Ratchet and Clank game that Insomniac already made, you’ll have to wait until then.
