Doom is one of the best games launched in 2016 and developer, id Software, has been supporting the game since then and plans to further support Doom multiplayer through 2017.

Speaking with IGN, Doom co-directors Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin confirmed that id Software will support the game in 2017 with more Doom multiplayer DLC.

I think the DLC we did for multiplayer is, it’s definitely the best of the multiplayer stuff that’s out there. We are sticking with the multiplayer, we’ve got some things that we want to still do and give players.

Doom was an instant hit among fans when it launched last year, however, before id Software even rebooted the franchise the developer was working on Doom 4 which was canceled. Recently, the studio revealed the reason why Doom 4 was canceled.

According to id Software designer Kevin Cloud, the studio moved on from the concept of Doom 4 because it did not feel like a Doom game.

We explored a direction and got to a certain point and felt like this really wasn’t capturing what we felt like was going to be a strong Doom and what the fans would want from it.

Also, before the launch of the game, publisher Bethesda was not confident about the game. According to Bethesda, they are surprised by how much game’s singleplayer was liked by everyone. Vice president of PR and marketing, Pete Hines, was excited and pleasantly surprised by how much Doom singleplayer campaign was praised.

He explained that he and various others at Bethesda were worried that Doom will only get mediocre reviews, and will be branded as same old.

Doom is a first-person shooter developed by id Software for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
