Halo Wars 2 Arrives on Halo Waypoint, Release Date Incoming?

Since Halo Wars 2 now has received a page at Halo Waypoint, we can very well hear about the official release date for the game.

Halo Wars 2 is coming closer and closer to release, and one mark of this release is that it now has its own official page on the Halo Waypoint website.

Announced at E3 last year, Halo Wars 2 is the sequel to real-time strategy veterans Ensemble Studios’s (Developers of classics like Age of Empires and its spinoff Age of Mythology) own console RTS title Halo Wars, released in 2009.

This time, the masters of real-time strategy, Creative Assembly, will develop this installment of the series.

Halo Wars originally won praise for getting a genre normally restricted to PCs to work on a console, with solid controls and for being a good example of a console RTS. Its plot and cinematics also won praise, along with its voice acting.

Creative Assembly is also no stranger to developing for consoles. Its last foray away from its comfortable PC territory, 2014’s Alien: Isolation, won critical acclaim for its atmosphere and capacity to soil your pants, in contrast to the Aliens game that came before it, the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Even before that it had developed games such as Spartan: Total Warrior for the original Xbox, Gamecube, and Playstation 2, and Viking: Battle for Asgard on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.
It has also gained a large amount of hype for its upcoming game Total War: Warhammer, based on the universe of Games Workshop’s tabletop war game.

However, whether Halo Wars 2 will turn out well or not will depend on how well Creative Assembly can imitate Ensemble’s way of controlling units on a console. While CA has made console games before, it has yet to make a real-time strategy game on that medium, preferring to stick to its PC roots when dealing with armies and maneuvering, rather than individual characters.
