Gran Turismo Sport Audio System Has Been Completely Redesigned

The Gran Turismo audio system is being completely reworked in order to get it up to current standards, according to Kazunori Yamauchi.

A reported weakness of the Gran Turismo series has been its audio, which is lackluster compared to other racing games in the series. However, in Gran Turismo Sport, the latest iteration of the series, the Gran Turismo audio system has been completely reworked in order to make it actually sound like a racing game.

Gran Turismo has often been described as being in the middle of a vacuum while racing, in contrast to various other racing games where you can actually hear the car going.

Whereas the Gran Turismo audio system focused on the wind slipping around the car and the whirring of the engine over the other sounds that were focused on in other racing games. It was very jarring, almost like an audio version of the uncanny valley, to sit in a car that looked real, and felt real, but didn’t sound real.

This problem will be fixed, so says Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of Gran Turismo, with Gran Turismo Sport.

Gran Turismo Sport is the thirteenth game in the Gran Turismo series, and appears to be made almost entirely for the eSports genre in order to bring racing to the eSports stage.

The game will have a single player mode in it and will include both offline and online racing, but is primarily geared towards multiplayer. In Sport, the Gran Turismo audio system will be a complete revamp, rather than building on the existing technology.

Work has begun to fix the game’s audio already and is being done not just for the sake of keeping up with the competition, but also getting the game’s audio up to current standards. This is going hand-in-hand with the game being made as detailed as possible.

However, the quality may seem very up-and-down. Yamauchi has said that in the various cars some will sound good, and some will not. Fortunately, Yamauchi also said that the audio system still needs work, so all of the cars will likely sound great once the game releases.
