Frictional Games Unveils New Horror Title Called SOMA

Frictional Games has today officially unveiled its latest project called SOMA, a sci-fi horror title in development for the PlayStation 4 and PC.

“For the last three years, we have been working on a game called SOMA,” Frictional Games’ Creative Director Thomas Grip explained. “All that time, this project has remained a secret – it’s a great relief to finally be able to talk about it. This game is by far the most ambitious and thrilling project we have ever undertaken.”

Seeing Amnesia’s popularity, it comes as no surprise that the creators of the popular horror franchise decided to go for another title in the same genre. From the accompanying gameplay trailer, the engine seems to have been improved quite a lot. SOMA features better textures than previous titles from Frictional Games and some additional new stuff which you can check out in the video posted above.

SOMA once again puts players in the boots of “a normal” entity in first-person view, who is “trapped in a nightmarish world”. Expect the play-through to reveal more about the game’s world and settings.

SOMA is set for release sometime in 2015 and for now is in development for only the PlayStation 4 and PC.
