Last year, Ubisoft confirmed that a remastered version of Assassin’s Creed 3 was in the making, but we didn’t get much of a release date beyond the window of sometime in March 2019. A French retailer named Micromania, however, has now apparently leaked that release date to be March 29 of this year.
Assassin’s Creed 3 tells the story of Connor Kenway, a Mohawk tribesman who sets out to get revenge on the Templar Order after they burn down his village and kill his mother. This takes him on an elaborate journey of vengeance that travels through the entire Revolutionary War from Lexington and Concord to the Battle of Yorktown.
The game also introduced naval combat to the game, which in turn led to the development of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, seen as one of the best Assassin’s Creed games due to its sailing, piracy, and naval combat. That’s not to say, though, that Assassin’s Creed wasn’t completely devoid of its own pioneering aspects.
Along with naval combat, the game gave us a brand new kind of parkour in the form of traversing the Frontier, which allowed us to jump from tree to tree and run along narrow branches, rather than sticking to a horse on the roads. Players can also hunt animals to improve their gear and increase the ammunition for their weapons, including arrows and pistols.
The Assassin’s Creed 3 remaster, along with the regular Assassin’s Creed game and all of its DLC, is also supposed to be coming with Assassin’s Creed Liberation, a side-game and prequel starring the series’s first female Assassin, Aveline de Grandpré.
While the Assassin’s Creed 3 remaster does come out apparently on March 29, that doesn’t mean it will be coming out that day for everyone. Players who got the Gold Edition of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or bought the game’s season pass will be getting it a few days earlier.
Hopefully all of the news of the Assassin’s Creed 3 remaster will end up true and it will release on March 29, but we’ll just have to wait and see. The game will be releasing on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
