Fallout 4 Features Over 26,000 Dialogue Lines For the Protagonist

Fallout 4 has over 26,000 lines of recorded dialogues for the main character.

In a post-interview following Bethesda’s E3 2015 press conference earlier today, Fallout 4 director Todd Howard talked about the game’s voiced protagonist.

Pointing out the current-gen consoles, Howard explained that the new hardware has provided developers with the means to implement various features that otherwise was previously impossible.

This includes a lot of dynamic elements that helps Fallout 4 create a living and breathing world. When a world has been created on such a massive scale, it’s important that it has a good story to boast.

Howard knows that a voice character helps tell a story better. Not to mention that on some level, players expect the lead character to have his/her own voice. Mentioning how it was hard to ensure the perfect voiced character for the role, Howard revealed that Fallout 4 has over 26,000 lines of recorded dialogue for the protagonist alone.

This includes lines from both the male and female voice actors, where each recorded more than 13,000 lines. The whole recording porocess took more than two years.

Our main anxiety with doing a voiced character is finding the right voices. We have two great voice actors doing the male and female [characters] and they have been fabulous and also how much time they had since we did not wanted to hold back any of our writing. They have been been recording stuff for the last two years. They have each recorded over 13,000 lines of dialogue. It has come out great and it allows us to do storytelling and emotional moments that we could not quite hit before.

Fallout 4 launches on November 10 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
