Ex-Rockstar Employee Shares his Horror Story, Had to Work 7 Days a Week

Rockstar is under fire since the reveal of several 100-hour work weeks during Red Dead Redemption 2 development. Another ex-Rockstar employee has now shared his horrible experience of working at the studio. The ex-Rockstar employee notes that he had to work 7 days a week.

Developers around the world are now coming forward to share their experiences for one of the biggest studios in the gaming industry.

Job J Stauffer is the founder of Orpheus Self-Care Entertainment. He also happens to be ex-employee of RockStar and Telltale Games. Kotaku‘s Jason Schreier reached out to him to share his experience.

According to Stauffer, during the GTA IV era, he was working 7 days a week. He added that he felt like the studio had a gun on his head. Furthermore, he had to work Saturdays and Sundays.

Stauffer then posted another Tweet to share his story when he needed a day off.

Following the backlash, The studio was reached out by Kotaku to clarify what they said. Rockstar made it clear by saying that the senior writing team had to work 3 weeks not years.

According to Rockstar, the studio doesn’t force overtime on anyone whether it’s a senior or a junior. That additional effort is a choice and they believe that their passion shows in the games they release.

I’m just not one of them! No one, senior or junior, is ever forced to work hard. I believe we go to great lengths to run a business that cares about its people, and to make the company a great place for them to work.

As for the game, Rockstar has now confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to take around 60 hours to complete the game’s story.

Rockstar Games has also revealed the game file size. Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to take 88 GB on Xbox One and 105 GB on PlayStation 4.

The massive file size is not surprising as the game consists of the massive map covering a significant part of the United States.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26 for Xbox One and PS4.
