Ed Boon Reveals More Details About Mortal Kombat 11 Community Event

Ed Boon reveals details about a Mortal Kombat 11 community event this Thursday. Live demo confirmed as we approach the Mortal Kombat 11 release date.

First off, it should’ve been called the “Kommunity” event. Now that we’ve addressed the elephant in the room, let’s talk about the Mortal Kombat 11 community event. An event that serves as a sneak peeks of what’s to be expected when we hit the Mortal Kombat 11 release date in April. The details of the event are specifically what Ed Boon revealed about it in a recent tweet that is.

So besides what we’ve actually seen from the reveal trailer itself, we already know about the presence of Scorpion and Raiden in the game. The latter having embraced the new role of being an antagonist.  We also know about the options of character and loadout customization to enhance the Mortal Kombat experience.

This tweet has additionally added that we’ll be getting a closer look into some exclusive reveals. Possibly the Kombat pass that’s set to release alongside the base game itself.

A story reveal was also included in the tweet details. I have several theories surrounding the story of Mortal Kombat 11 which are based off some recent leaks.

A hands-on experience in the form of most likely a demo will also be present. Meaning we’ll be getting a first look at the raw Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay at the community event. Besides what we’ve seen from steam screenshots. This just makes the wait for the Mortal Kombat 11 release date all the more intense.

The literal community part of the event, the Kollective showcase is also set to take place live. This will be including “kontributions” from Instagram artist Bosslogic and cosplayer Alicia Marie among many others. No doubt also sharing their own takes on the new Mortal Kombat 11 in their own ways.

Getting back to the story, the trailer already pretty much revealed the involvement of time travel. If not travel, then at least parallel universe type elements, the clip having flashed who I think is Mortal Kombat 11’s main protagonist. Kronika, the goddess of time and space, which makes Raiden the secondary antagonist. Sort of like what Goro was to Shao Khan.

The heroes being gathered to Kombat the threat are to be selected and recruited from different timelines and universes. This is why there were two Scorpions in the trailer. The one, in the end, showing up as the Klassic Hanzo Hasashi that we all know and love from Mortal Kombat 1.

The leak also included a full roster to the game, which excluded Mileena, much to my dismay. Since (spoiler alert) she did die in the events of Mortal Kombat X. But she should still be able to show up in 11 since multiple timelines are being utilized.

I also hope to see the tag team mode from Mortal Kombat 9 make a return, one can hope and dream. As well as the return of a few personal favorites like Noob Saibot, who was referenced in MKX. We’ll see more about the roster in the community event. And it’ll all be eventually confirmed once we finally reach the Mortal Kombat 11 release date.
