Plenty of choices come across Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and one such is to either side with Harding, a tanky-dwarf, or Neve, a powerful mage, to stop Solas.
The choice comes up in the prologue section while you’re attempting to stop Solas’ ritual. You must choose a companion and topple the statues to interrupt Solas’ ritual. But the question remains of which character you would want to take. Both choices in Dragon Age: The Veilguard have minor consequences but can boost approval ratings.
If you choose Neve
If you choose Neve, you can use her powers to drop the statues and interrupt Solas’ rituals, while Harding deals with incoming enemies. The outcome of this choice is that Neve gets hurt and won’t be there for your quest to look for Bellara. But she’ll join on the search for D’Meta and the mayor. You’ll get many approval points for Neve, though, which may make it easier to romance her.
If you choose Harding
If you side with Harding, she will help you drop the statues using her physical strength. This choice has a similar outcome of getting hurt. She will also be out of commission while you search for Bellara but will join during the village quest. You will also get a lot of approval points for her.
Should You Take Neve or Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
As the choice of outcome does not affect the game’s story, so we recommend choosing the character you would want to increase romantic bonds with. Note that whichever character you choose to stop Solas will not accompany you during the quest to look for Bellara. But you will have them back in the next quest to D’Meta and find the missing the Veil Jumpers.
Both are capable companions. If you want a mage’s power for the next quest, side with Harding. If not, choose Neve.
