There are levels to how you hype up a game but when Larian Studios starts talking about Divinity Original Sin 2, they don’t consider them. The studio boss says it is a game “that will either sink us, or go on to be remembered as our best game ever!”
Now that is one way of making a reader focus, right?
Anyhow, the sequel to their best game yet, Divinity Original Sin 2 has not been talked about officially so far, which is why Swen Vincke, the head of Larian was pretty excited when starting to talk about how they were returning to Kickstarter with it.
For those who don’t know Baldur’s Gate and its sequel, it should suffice to say that Original Sin 2 is going to be Larian’s most ambitious title, but here’s something to put things in perspective for those who know Baldur’s Gate:
Put simply, if you were to compare what we’re doing to what Bioware did back in the day with Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2. D:OS 2 is to be our Baldur’s Gate 2.
The Kickstarter campaign is going to launch on August 26 which is when you will also get first hand knowledge of the game’s features and more.
However, they are boasting of features that turn based RPGs have not seen before, and promising you will be able to check it out at PAX Prime:
It really goes beyond what’s been done so far in turn-based RPGs and it’s going to be a lot of fun to play. Actually, it already is and we’ll be showing a prototype at Pax Prime where people will be able to get a taste of it.
Check back for more on Divinity Original Sin 2 later.
