Update Your Graphics Card Drivers
To ensure you are getting the best performance out of your graphics card, you can download and install latest drivers (based on manufacturer) here:

General recommendations
Avoid using Alt-Tab when playing. Relaunch the game if you see performance dropping after using Alt-Tab.
Avoid having background applications running in addition to the game.
Video Settings
- If you have performance issues, try lowering the resolution.
- Use 1440p resolution only if you have a very high-end GPU ( GTX 1070/1080 or equivalent)
- Keep the V-Sync activated, especially if you have large framerate fluctuations.
- If you have framerate under 30 fps, adjust the “Adaptive Resolution” between minimum (50%) and default value (75%).
Advanced Setting
- Use the “Auto” presets: this should adjust your visual settings without impacting your framerate.
- If you still have performance issues with “Auto” presets:
- Try deactivating the “TXAA Anti-Aliasing”
- Try lowering the texture details

The first Dishonored was a great hit. Critics and fans around the world admired its stealth based action and one could complete the game without even killing anyone. Success of the first game automatically set up the stage for hyped Dishonored 2.
Dishonored 2 has two protagonists and while it preserves the basic formula that made the first game great, Arkane Studios has introduced some new gameplay mechanics as fresh breath of Air.
However, based on early impressions, the Dishonored 2 PC port is struggling a bit specially with performance. Many users are reporting that they are getting bad performance initial crashes. Based on the reports, we have shortlisted the common problems being faced by users and their possible fixes.
Dishonored 2 Errors, Crashes, FPS, Performance and Their Fixes
#1 Dishonored 2 HBAO+ Setting Issue
If you are not seeing this setting your graphics options, you can change it via Nvidia control panel. You need to switch Ambient Occlusion to OFF in global settings in the control panel. Why is this setting important? Well some users have mentioned that disabling it helps the game’s performance considerably.
#2 Dishonored 2 Poor FPS Fix
Many users have reported that they are getting poor FPS on their capable enough rigs, especially on Nvidia cards. If you too are experiencing the same issue, you might want try these steps:
- Go to Nvidia Control Panel/3D settings and set Maximum pre-rendered frames= 1

If you are getting this error, you should try installing the executables files in redist folder and restart your system. If that does not work, it’s important that you have a dx 11 supported video card otherwise the game won’t run.

If you are running an SLI and you want max out of your cards, you should use these drivers as these seems to have worked for some.
#11 Dishonored 2 Mouse Sensitivity Issue
In game’s setting, you can easily miss the tab above telling you to choose the controller or mouse. If your sensitivity isn’t changing by the slider, then chances are that you are doing that for controller and you need to select mouse tab.
#12 Dishonored 2 FPS Fix in Open Areas
The game is really struggling to give proper FPS for many users. And there have been reports that the drops become more annoying when you enter more open areas. As a workaround for now, you should try changing antialiasing to FXAA or try disabling it altogether.
#13 Dishonored 2 Possible Performance Fix
A user has reported that by increasing the priority (setting it to highest) of the game from task manager increased the performance. It’s a long shot but you should try doing that. Just make sure that you have the admin rights as otherwise, the change might reverse or not even happen.
