Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Say Console Ports to PC Can Be Disrespectful

While we won’t be seeing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided until August 2016 that doesn’t mean that we can’t find out new details about the game. As this latest video from the New York Comic-Con shows.

To get to the Q&A with the developers skip to 25:00, though one of the more interesting questions comes at 30:18. This is where a PC player asks for confirmation that the version coming to their gaming platform won’t be just a console port. While I’m not a fan of how he asked the question he does raise an interesting point.

The speakers at the event were Jean-François Dugas (Executive Game Director), Jonathan Jacques-Belletête (Executive Art Director) and Elias Toufexis (Actor – Adam Jensen). In reply to the question they were given they revealed that the game would not just be a port, but would feature plenty of options for the PC player. They went so far as to say console ports are disrespectful to PC players. They also made a joke about the colour scheme.

Another question they received at the event was about DirectX 12, which is at the 42:00 mark. They don’t really give much of a reply on this but they do reveal that they are working on things. One of these were details about the look of hair. For more details on this it looks like we’ll have to wait though.

On actual game details, another question the PC gamer raised was about being able to play the game as a true pacifist. The developers revealed that the game will be playable without killing anybody. I’m sure this will be one of the more challenging aspects of the game.
