Destiny 2 Forsaken Is A Story About Revenge, Track Down And Kill

Destiny 2 Forsaken is releasing this September, bringing a bitter turn of events to the popular title. As you already know, Cayde-6, possibly the most iconic character in the franchise gets killed in the new expansion, leaving us, the Guardians with the sweet taste of revenge. Bungie explains why this move had to happen in order for the franchise to move on.

Undeniably, the Destiny universe is a world filled with lore, however, the second title hasn’t had much progress in this department yet. While both previous expansions bore great expectations from its narrative segment, fans felt that there was no actual impact during their campaign.

No impact you say? Let’s kill your favorite character, turn the game into a Wild West fiesta were you hunt down and kill the culprits. While this might make players a bit frustrated, it’s not just for “shock value” as Bungie reveals. During a recent developer insights video on Youtube,  Eric Osborne, Head of Community reveals:

“It feels like it’s just done for shock value at the start but it’s not. I think it makes the world feel rich. You start to see the way characters are reacting that death and the vacuum that it leaves in the universe”.

We have also got to know during the developer insights video that Destiny 2 Forsaken narrative is created in such a way that every character involved looks conflicted in some way. “Characters struggle their own internal conflict that they have to resolve”.

What better way to create a revenge story that bringing it to a Wild West setting? Destiny 2 Forsaken combines sci-fi with western to create a perfect hybrid where everything looks the same but you can tell by the details that this world is now influenced by a western theme.

Destiny 2 Forsaken is releasing on September 4th, 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can now head to the respective stores on each platform to prepurchase the edition you like.

Always looking for a deep story, empathetic characters, and a great soundtrack in video games. Hardcore game hoarder and a strong believer that one day Xbox will win the console war.
