Denuvo DRM Latest Version For “Shadow Of the Tomb Raider” Has Been Cracked

While Denuvo DRM has been successful to some extent, however, the latest version of the anti-tamper tech has been cracked.

Game devs have been using Denuvo for their PC games to protect them from being pirated. While Denuvo DRM has been successful to some extent, however, the latest version of the anti-tamper tech has been cracked.

The latest version of the Denuvo DRM, which is being used for Monster Hunter World, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Yakuza 0, and Dragon Quest XI, has been cracked. This means that we might be seeing pirated versions of these games on the internet.

The hackers have cracked the F1 2018 which also uses the latest version of the Denuvo DRM.

The latest version of the anti-tamper tech is 4.9 and with F1 2018 being cracked the group might also be able to crack Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which launched recently, along with other AAA titles.

However, this is not the end of the world for Denuvo DRM as the devs behind it will have to roll out a new version with updated code.

According to Denuvo, the purpose of the anti-temper tech is to secure launch week/month sales as every game is cracked eventually.

Our goal, and it’s still the goal, is to protect initial sales. Of course, we would like to have it uncracked forever, but that just doesn’t happen in the games industry.

Also, the Denuvo DRM has somewhat of a bad reputation among the PC gaming community as many believe that the anti-tamper tech degrades the game’s performance by hogging the PC resources.

However, that might not be the case at all as recent tests show that Denuvo has no noticeable impact on performance except for a couple of games.

It all comes down the developer’s implementation of the anti-tamper tech as noticed in tests that Mass Effect Andromeda saw a significant bump in performance following the removal of the Denuvo DRM.

Speaking of the Denuvo being cracked, Voksi was the one who initially cracked the Denuo 4.9. However, the company took a legal action against Voksi back in July.

According to Voksi, police raided his house for his equipment following the complaint filed by Irdeto, the company that bought Denuvo earlier this year.

He added that despite his offer for a peaceful resolution, the company noted that the prosecutor will be the one making the final decision and he won’t be able to crack games anymore.
