Death Stranding PC Hopes Crushed as ESRB Rating is Only For PS4

Remember how fans went wild when the possibility of seeing a Death Stranding on PC hit the news? Well, there goes that. The ESRB rating for the game is out and it is only for Playstation 4.

After the announcement of the Death Stranding ESRB ratings, the chances of seeing the game release on PC are almost non-existent .The only lead we had up until now is a supposed rating claiming that Kojima Productions’ upcoming title is multiplatform. Now that the official answer from ESRB is out, we get a clear picture. The PC version isn’t happening. At least, not anytime soon.

Apart from the news about Death Stranding on PC not happening though, the ratings have more interesting details to share. The game has an M 17+ tag, along with the features of blood, violence, nudity and strong language. However, the description has a few twists about the Death Stranding cutscenes. It details:

  • A man and an infant get shot—the latter, accidentally (blood splatter appears below the infant)
  • A character shooting a comatose patient in the head
  • A man stabbing himself repeatedly in the distance

We’ve already seen the last part in the second Death Stranding trailer and it was quite shocking. The first two segments though are even more chilling. The man and infant shooting must be about Sam or Deadman getting shot since they are the two of the characters we see carrying BBs. As for the comatose character, this could be one of the comatose mothers that Deadman was talking about. They are the BB links between the alive and dead worlds. Maybe someone tries to stop Sam and kills the mother of his BB in order to do so? That could be a twisted turn of events.

Whatever the case, it’s a pity not being able to hope for a Death Stranding PC version. With the evolution of hardware and the addition of realistic lighting in high-end systems, Hideo Kojima’s upcoming title would get the best out of what’s available on PC.

Playstation 4 exclusivity, however, may not last forever and we might see the game release on PC after a year or two. If you are a PC gamer and refuse to get a Playstation 4 then you might still have the chance to play the game, although the possibility of that gets slimmer and slimmer every day.

Always looking for a deep story, empathetic characters, and a great soundtrack in video games. Hardcore game hoarder and a strong believer that one day Xbox will win the console war.
