Shooting them is one way, getting up close and personal with knifes and shit is another. But hey, how about using that same knife, and not getting up close? That’s what Logan does. He’ll use melee weapons as ballistics effectively against the undead, and that is what makes him so unique among the crew in Dead Island: Riptide.
Another great thing about Loganis that he can screw up multiple enemies at once, thanks to his incredible Fury mode. This makes him once of the best folks against large hordes, and an ideal character to have in your co-op team.
Let’s look at John Morgan’s stats, and then have a go at the build.

At first glance you might think that the best tree for Logan would either be Fury or Combat. Actually, it’s Survival – I’ll tell you why. Firstly, you should instantly grab Bullseye from the Fury tree, and then directly head on to the Survival tree.
You want to now eliminate the lack of stamina that Logan has. If you ignore certain skills that increase stamina, then you’ll likely be unable to do anything. Remember: Logan is a stamina-hungry thrower, and all you’ll be doing with him is actually throwing. Take Boomerang, and then opt for Deeper Pockets. This is essential because you won’t be needing maintenance crap, but you will definitely need some extra room for throwable weapons.
Conditioning will grant you a rise in stamina by a good percentage when all 3 points are invested, which should get rid of any stamina problems. Then, instead of taking Reliable Boomerang, head on to the Combat tree, and then start investing in that for a bit.
While Fencer is an attractive choice, Mass Driver wins easily because you won’t be swinging one hand weapons – you’ll be throwing them. Ignore the maintenance crap, and Frenzy wins easily. Then, take Mighty Throw (there’s no reason to take the other nonsense stuff). Now, the 6th Tier is really interesting, because to be honest three skills (Economical Throw, Telling Blows, and Shinobi) really stand out. I would recommend Telling Blows and Economical Throw, while ignoring Shinobi as it is only effective against lower level enemies.
Grab Firearms Apprentice (useless in my opinion), then head on back to Survival to finish things off with Reliable Boomerang, Discipline, and Reflection.
You’ll probably wonder why I left Fury till the end. Well, this is because the higher tier skills of Fury are best suited for high level game. Logan’s Fury is the best offensive one among all characters, and second best only to Purna’s. It’s quite easy to make your way down the tree. Grab Grazing Hits and then the lovable Furious Throw. After True Bullseye, you’ll have a choice between two good skills: Wings of Death and Volatile. I would recommend grabbing Volatile first, and then going for Wings of Death, and then ultimately finishing off with sweet Deadeye Bullseye.
This combination will ensure that you’re doing huge amounts of damage to hordes of zombies. Logan is also brilliant with crowd control, so there’s little reason for you to doubt the bad-boy’s aim or intentions.
