Days Gone has been in development at Sony Bend and the game was revealed back in 2016, however, it’s 2018 and the game hasn’t released and neither it has a definitive release date and it seems that the studio is working on another AAA PS4 exclusive.
According to the job listing for Sony Bend, the studio is looking for Senior Staff Gameplay Programmer to join their “passionate team in creating a new AAA PlayStation 4 exclusive”.
Furthermore, what is interesting is that the listing also reveals that the Senior Staff Gameplay Programmer should have experience with current and next-gen consoles which might indicate that the studio is already developing using PS5 dev kits and the upcoming title might be coming to PlayStation 5.
However, by next-gen, the studio might be referring to PS4 Pro and given that it is just speculation, take it with a grain of salt.
This might also explain why the studio is not revealing the release date for Days Gone as the studio is tangled up in two projects at the same time which might have caused in the development delay for the game.
While the studio has its lips sealed when it comes to the release date, but the studio has been revealing details about the game. According to the devs, hope is the central theme that drives the Days Gone forward.
The story is going to be about exploring Deacon as he moves through the world, how he changes, and one of our big themes is hope. Even if you live in the shit, how do you get out of that and how do you make a life worth living?
Also, Sony Bend seems to be quite dedicated to the details in the game as Darren Chisum, the senior programmer at Bend Studio revealed that Days Gone has a dedicated team for dynamic events.
