Dark Souls Remastered Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

Following a string of rumors, Nintendo finally confirmed during Nintendo Direct 2018 that Dark Souls Remastered will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Following a string of rumors, Nintendo finally confirmed during Nintendo Direct 2018 that the much-hyped Dark Souls Remastered will be also be coming to the Nintendo Switch platform.

The remaster will also release on other platforms like the PC, PS4 and Xbox One but the move to also release to the Nintendo Switch may seem like a surprising by some considering that the dark and grisly Dark Souls Remastered may seem out of place among Nintendo’s usual family-friendly offerings.

However, this is just the latest of in a series of releases of more ‘mature’ titles by third-party on the Nintendo Switch. With publisher Bethesda releasing its popular titles Doom and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the switch platform last year with Fallout 4 rumored to follow suit.

Other third-party publishers like Rockstar Games also took notice of the platform and released their 2011 cult classic L.A. Noire on the platform and 2015’s smash indie hit Rocket League also came to the platform last year with cross-play support.

Nintendo also dropped a short CGI trailer for the upcoming Dark Souls Remastered at Nintendo Direct with a scheduled release date of 25th May 2018.

It’s important to mention that this may be the last we hear of titular Dark Souls series for some time as Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki said in a tweet last year that, “Dark Souls is completely done as of The Ringed City” and that him and developers FromSoftware don’t have any plans for the future as far the franchise is concerned.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is most likely going to be putting his resources and effort into the now-popular Bloodborne series that released to much critical acclaim when it launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2015.
