Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay, Setting, Story Details, Release Date

During E3 2018, we received the first look at the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay. In this article, we discuss everything from release to story and combat.

Over 5 years ago, we got to know of Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time. However, it has been a long wait for anyone who was eager enough to count down the days until the game is released.

There was no news for what the game would be about for over 2077 days, as said so by the developers themselves. However, new information is finally available, and we here at SegmentNext are going to let you know all that is possible to know about the game at this time.

Let’s go ahead and take a look at some of the finer points of Cyberpunk 2077 and figure out whether we have enough information about the game to form an opinion on it or not.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

The setting of Cyberpunk is probably the most interesting aspect of the game. There is very little information for us to go off, but from what we do know, we know that the game is set in America at a time when the country is in tatters.

There seems to be no law and no lay of the land. The developers have decided to be a little bit more open to the gamers who eagerly await the game’s release at E3 2018 and told them that the game is set in a time when corporations rule majority of the world.

The gangs control whatever it is that the corporations are not able to get under their grasp. This sets the scene for an epic tale where the player could be anyone from a gangster trying to fight against the corporations for what he holds dear or a rogue fighter trying to get something that he desires.

Cyberpunk (1)

As of right now, there is no release date available for the game. The developers over at CD Projekt Red have made it clear many times to us by now that the game will be released ‘When it’s Ready’.

However, they have confirmed that the game will feature free DLC and will not have microtransactions of any sort. This is probably a huge plus point because let us face it, paying $60 for half of a game has never been fun and it’s always good to see a developer do things old school.

Gameplay

It is hard to tell what the Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay would be like. However, we do know so far that the game will be an Action-RPG that will be very story driven.

The graphics of the game seem downright gorgeous in the trailer and since it utilizes engine footage, we can expect the same results from the final product.

However, one area where the game seems to lag behind in terms of graphics and detail is the character models.

Most of the characters have something that is totally off such as having facial hair that does not seem realistic in any sense of the word or having eyes which are totally off point.

Since we know that the game will have a general RPG type gameplay, it is safe to assume that there would also be combat in the game.

Of course, the fact that the teaser trailer from 5 years ago shows a barrage of bullets so jumping to that conclusion did not really require a lot of thinking.

The developers have also told us that we will have full character customization at our disposal. This means that we will easily be able to blend in with all of the atrocious looking characters that are alive in 2077.

Story Details

The new trailer that has come out at this year’s E3 is definitely one of the most hyped trailers the industry has ever seen!

Everything from the colors of the vibrant city that has not yet been named to the energizing music that is on in the background is proof of the fact that this game means business.

The story seems to be set in a place where the crime rate is absolutely massive and the city generally is in a desolate state. However, people are unable to resist the city since it offers them opportunities for success.

The narrator who also seems to be the protagonist of the story mentions that the city was built for dreamers, and he likes to dream bigger than anyone else does.

This means that the story may very well by set upon following some sort of personal ambition of the protagonist. This could range from anything as simple as making money to something as complex and controlling the city.

Whatever the intentions of our character in the game, we do not know as of this moment.

However, we have a general idea of what to expect and it is almost certain that we will get to see more and more details being leaked about the game as it edges closer to its release date.

Cyberpunk Origins

It is important to remember that this is not the first game in the Cyberpunk universe. There have been Cyberpunk games set at earlier times including Cyberpunk 2013 and 2020.

These games were based around a ‘Night City’ that may very well be the city that is being described and shown in the new trailer.

The mega-corporations have an unofficial carte blanche to operate in the original game since the United States Government was unable to sustain the country after a massive economic collapse followed by a period of depression and martial law.

This means that the corporations wield considerable influence and we may very well end up having to manage our relationships with all of them when playing the game. In the original 2 Cyberpunk games, there were a total of 20 corporations.

However, the new iteration of the series is set over 55 years after the last game and thus the landscape of America could be very different than it was back then.
