The Witcher 3’s main story was massive as it offered over 60+ hours of gameplay, excluding the side quests you can do. You put them in and you get over 150+ hours of activities for $60. This is the type of gameplay design players want to see and they expect it from the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
However, given the recent loot boxes backlash against AAA publishers, it is understandable how the community is concerned about every AAA title in development. But thankfully, Cyberpunk 2077. at least, won’t have loot boxes and we can expect this title to follow the ways of The Witcher 3.
If the following comments from CD Projekt RED are any indication, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to feature 60+ hours of single-player storyline. When asked about loot boxes and service-based games, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński stated:
‘Conversation’ sounds way too nice to describe what was happening last year. I would rather call it community backlash. And this time around, it wasn’t just the hardcore community, there were a lot of really pissed off gamers out there and they decided to speak up. Where we stand is quite simple and you could see it with all of our past releases—most recently The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and GWENT. If you buy a full priced game, you should get a big, polished piece of content, which gives you many, many hours of fun gameplay.
The definition of ‘many’ may vary on a title-by-title basis, but in our case it was always 50-60+ hours of the main story-line, with up to a couple of hundred of hours of side activities—if you really wanted to max out the title. To me, this is a fair deal. You get what you paid for, plus we are always trying our best to overdeliver. There is no better PR than a happy gamer recommending your title to their friends
Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be present during E3 2018 with a gameplay reveal trailer. It is on that day we will find out how this game looks and plays. Cyberpunk should release sometime next year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
