Cyberpunk 2077 Could Possibly Come to PS5 And Series X This Year

CD Projekt RED claims that Cyberpunk 2077 might release on PS5 and Xbox Series X this year. What improvements do we want to see if that happens?

We’ve been waiting long to say it. Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing this year and practically it is only 4 months away from launching on PC and current-gen consoles. Even though we know CD Projekt RED made the game to be played on this generation of systems, they hint that we’ll “possibly” see Cyberpunk 2077 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X when they release.

The statement comes from the game’s support team on Facebook, who has been answering fans’ questions over the past year. One fan asked whether or not we’ll see Cyberpunk 2077 release on PS5 and Series X and the answer was surprisingly optimistic. According to the representative, Cyberpunk 2077 will possibly release on next-gen consoles. However, their main focus is still on the current generation of consoles. This comes as a contradiction to what the studio said last year but, if development is going smoothly, they might consider the possibility again.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that CD Projekt wants to push Cyberpunk 2077 to PS5 and Series X. Fans have been following its trail since its first trailer was revealed 10 years ago and it would be a waste of resources to keep such a large-scaled game tied to a short market. In a matter of 6 months, current platforms will slowly start to become irrelevant to high-end gamers, making it practically a PC game. However, the studio’s expertise makes Cyberpunk a great title to have on next-gen consoles since there won’t be many available at launch.

The question to be asked at this point is whether or not we want Cyberpunk releasing on PS5 and the new Xbox. If backward compatibility will be a standard for both of them, don’t the means destroy the purpose? If information about next-gen consoles pushing resolutions to 8K and super fast loading times is true then yes, we’ll want to see a full-fledged release. Backward compatibility won’t be enough to scratch the itch for more.

Whatever the case might be, it won’t be long before we find out. For the time being, we’ll focus on what we know and that is the imminent release. Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on store shelves on April 16th 2020 and will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Google Stadia and PC.
