The various Cyberpunk 2077 corporations that will be major players in the game’s world have been detailed bY CD Projekt RED, telling us what they specialize in and what they intend on doing. We don’t know much about the world of Night City, so this will be a good start.
In the far future of 2077, Night City much like many cyberpunk settings is filled with a variety of different megacorporations that control many different aspects of life. Two of these, the ones that CD Projekt RED explained in detail, were Arasaka and Militech.
Arasaka is a Japanese company in origin that markets protective services and their own brands of Asian-made products throughout North America. However, much like many megacorporations in the future, they have a dark side. There are a large number of rumors that Arasaka covers its tracks covers its tracks using cybernetic assassins, a huge army of lawyers, and connections to the Japanese yakuza.
The other one of the two Cyberpunk 2077 corporations is Militech. Much like Arasaka, Militech is an arms-dealing company that specializes in weapons and works closely with military and police forces. They have a wide catalogue of stuff to sell, ranging from small-arms to heavy combat vehicles. However, it doesn’t appear like they have any dirty laundry like Arasaka…for now, at least.
Both of these corporations will likely figure into the story of Cyberpunk 2077 in a big way, especially considering that if they’re truly megacorporations then the possibility of armed conflict between them is a real possibility. Night City, according to the game’s E3 trailer, was already ranked the worst place to live due to a high rate of violence, and corporate warfare might play a part in it.
We still don’t have any idea of when Cyberpunk 2077 will come out, but with all of the different bits of lore we’re getting now, hopefully we’ll be able to learn a lot about the world when it releases.
