You Can’t Complete Cyberpunk 2077 As A Purist

A Cyberpunk 2077 purist playthrough won't be possible according to new confirmation. The game will force cyberware on you for certain missions.

Bad luck to all perfectionists out there. A Cyberpunk 2077 purist playthrough won’t be possible according to CD Projekt RED. The reason behind that is the fact that certain missions will force cyberware on your character, making it impossible to remove them.

The news comes in the most unconventional way, in the form of an answer to a fan on the Cyberpunk 2077 Facebook page. A fan wanted to know if he would be able to complete the main narrative with only a few if not none modifications to his character. Purist challenges are common for most triple-A RPGs, even though only a few have the patience to go through with them. As the fan confirms, Deus Ex Human Revolution made it possible for this to happen, raising the question as to if Cyberpunk 2077 will let you do the same.

The answer came negative and the reason is understandable. A Cyberpunk 2077 purist playthrough won’t be available. Some quests will give you certain cyberware requirements in order to complete, making the challenger practically impossible. We already know of some weapons shown in the first gameplay demo, that will be available to you for certain quests. Those will be available for you to obtain later on but, you’ll have to use them in order to complete missions.

This isn’t the first time we hear about this though. The conversation about the possibility of a purist playthrough in Cyberpunk 2077 has been in question for a year now. Back then, the situation was the same. Cyberware will be forced on you on certain occasions as part of the narrative.

This raises questions though. If cyberware is somewhat necessary in-game but wearing them costs humanity points, then isn’t that messing up with the natural ways of the game?

Either way, a Cyberpunk 2077 purist gameplay might be possible in some ways if you can manage conversations properly and avoid conflict. As the developers have stated before, you can indeed avoid combat by going around it through conversation.

If that is possible then could it be that we can skip parts with necessary cyberware altogether? That clearly remains to be seen. However, there is so much to see and achieve in the game that having no purist gameplay is the least we could nag about.

Speaking of cyberware, CD Projekt RED has detailed the crafting system for Cyberpunk 2077. The Cyberpunk 2077 crafting system allows players to create armor, weapon modifications, special weapons, and more.

All of this can likely be done with components that you can buy or collect while walking around Night City. The details aren’t clear yet but there will be places for you to create of buy new parts and weapons or gadgets that you can use to manipulate enemies if you want to avoid combat. Maybe, hacking your way through missions could be another way for you to strike a purist playthrough.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2019. A multiplayer segment will be available for the game but not at launch. The developers will release it as soon as “it fits the lore”.
