Activision has released a comprehensive FAQs that lists a large set of questions related to CoD 4 Modern Warfare Remastered.
From the answers within these FAQs, it seems evident that Activision does not plan to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone product. The game will only be available as a part of the different editions of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Basically, you’ll only get CoD 4 Modern Warfare Remastered if you acquire one of the Legacy, Digital Legacy, Digital Deluxe, or Legacy Pro editions of Infinite Warfare.
In addition to this news, Activision also revealed that CoD 4 Modern Warfare Remastered will have full multiplayer progression like the original game, and will also include the ability to reach Master Prestige, unlock weapons, attachment, and more. The FAQ also states the remaster will support dedicated servers.
Interestingly, the FAQ does not list anything about mod support in the game – an essential part of the PC version of the original Modern Warfare which allowed for competitive multiplayer mods like promod and others.
The news that CoD 4 Modern Warfare Remastered will not be available as a separate product has invited a lot of criticism. Many feel the remaster is essentially a marketing ploy for players to buy Infinite Warfare, and the overpriced bundle make it an unworthy acquisition because the original title is available for a much lower price.
