Capcom Will Be Fixing Chun Li’s Face For Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Release

Capcom will be fixing Chun Li's face before the release of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, along with numerous other characters including Dante and Chris.

Aside from a number of other problems only fighting game players would recognize, the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite demo got some criticism, mainly for its looks. This includes Chun Li’s face, which has become something of a small meme. However, Capcom will be fixing her model before the game releases.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will actually have a story mode this time around, focusing on the Marvel and Capcom universe inhabitants combining forces in order to stop Ultron Sigma, a combination of Marvel’s Ultron and the Capcom universe’s Mega Man X antagonist Sigma.

Considering that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite’s engine is different from the original engine in Marvel vs Capcom 3 (MT Framework for 3, Unreal Engine for Infinite) it’s no real surprise that the models are going to look somewhat off; a new engine takes some getting used to after all, for every area of development.

However, Chun Li’s face has become the main indication for many players that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite won’t live up to the masterpiece that Marvel vs Capcom 3 turned out to be. While the variety of new characters and their moves, along with the potential of Ultron Sigma who serves as the main antagonist, could make the game good, the models may remain a sticking point.

Capcom has since announced that before the game comes out they’ll be fixing Chun Li’s model. Other characters will also have their models fixed, such as Dante (the original white-haired Dante, not the rebooted one), who also got a bit of a downgrade. In addition to those, the game will be running a beta all the way up to the game actually being released.

If you want to see how Chun Li’s face improves over time, be on the lookout for when Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite releases for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on September 19.
